At a meeting on Monday evening, June 15, the board of Community Christian Church voted unanimously to adopt the recommendation of the Moving Forward Committee that was formed at the last board meeting. The committee's recommendation, shaped by many factors—including the congregational survey— included four parts:
1) We continue to worship online only and improve our technology;
2) When we have a 14-day decrease in Covid-19 cases in Dallas County, the Moving Forward Committee will reconvene to prepare a new recommendation to the board;
3) We inform the congregation by sharing the data provided to the board;
4) We create a committee to plan ways to connect while we cannot gather and ways to celebrate when we can gather.
The work of the Moving Forward Committee was weighty and at times, overwhelming. But we can testify to the movement of the Holy Spirit as we discerned how we can best be the church, safely and faithfully. Members of the board have also commented about the Spirit that was present as we considered data and recommendations.
We invite everyone to join us for our online activities. You can find a list of our events and request Zoom links for them here. And you can find our online calendar here.
Now to God who by the power at work within us in able to accomplish abundantly far more than we can ask or imagine, to God be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen (Ephesians 3:20–21).
